Coromega, Vista, CA, has released preliminary findings from the initial phase of its national “6.2 For a Healthier You” campaign, which measured the omega 3 levels in select participants using one of the first omega 3 tests available in the U.S. The goal of the campaign is to inform people about the benefits of omega 3s, and the importance of achieving a healthy omega 3 score, which has been linked to many health benefits, including better heart, brain and joint health, and mobility.

Existing research shows the average American scores less than 5% in blood omega 3 levels, though healthy levels start around 6%, and optimum levels begin between 8% and 9%.

Coromega tested 23 individuals who regularly take Coromega Omega3 Squeeze, a daily dose of emulsified fish oil. Results show the majority of participants who take Coromega daily achieved a score well into the healthy omega 3 zone, with more than half reaching the optimum omega 3 level.

“Our preliminary findings have shown that people who take Coromega daily can achieve a score in the healthy omega 3 zone,” said Dr. Doug Bibus, Coromega’s scientific advisor and nationally-recognized leader in omega 3 research. “Because it’s difficult to get the recommended daily dose of omega 3s through diet alone, we often advise adding a daily supplement.”

Coromega used the Holman Omega-3 Test created by Dr. Bibus and renowned biochemist and omega 3 researcher Dr. Ralph Holman, which measures an individual’s omega 3 score through a simple blood test.
